Here's an sfx pack G_bby made (it's the one I use most of the time): For example: The dragon sound for a bed break, lightning strike/exp orb sound for a final kill, minecraft hit sounds for combos etc. Shakes can also be made without the plugin with the help of pan/crop (which is a thing in literally ever video editing software) and so can Glow, you can substitute the s_glow with a low opacity long and drawn out white flash (flashes discussed above^). Shakes and glows can be done via the Sapphire plugins s_shake and s_glow which can used on kicks and flashes which essentially are short (3 frames long) white/black solids which go on the claps. The best and simplest vfx one can use for upping their montage game are Shakes, Glows and flashes. My recommended time remaps are (assuming your footage is 120/60fps) 50% and 400% Time remapping/Velocity is simply the process of adjusting, or remapping the speed of a clip, thereby speeding up or slowing down your footage If you can pull of a good velocity the montage will instantly become much better.
Velocity/Time remapping is basically when you speed up the clips at the beast to create flow. I also use the sapphire plugin S_BlurMoCurves to make some of my transitions. I will discuss velocity more in my next point. Velocity transitions can be done using using speeding up the clips at the edges and the slowing them down (near the cuts). I mostly use velocity transitions (along with motion blur) which makes for a smooth viewing experience. The type of the transitions you use will depend on what is available in your video editing software.
However, you can use whip pans and other transitions. Many people will dissolve the images or fade between them. Once you have all of your clips in the montage you can set up the different transitions between the images and clips.
